New Dryer Exhaust Replacement in San Mateo California

I was contacted by a potential client in San Mateo, California who is renovating their home and planning to relocate their current laundry room. After inspecting the location of the new laundry room, I had several ideas for the dryer exhaust replacement.

The first option was to run a hard pipe directly to the roof with a short transition duct to minimize the total length of the exhaust system.

The second option was to install a DryerBox in the wall, run a short transition duct to the dryer box, and vent the exhaust to the roof.

The third option was to install a DryerBox and MagVent combo and exit to the roof with a DryerJack. The client chose the third option, which I believe was the best choice. This combination provides the necessary airflow and back pressure required for a safe and efficient dryer. In addition, the MagVent allows for easy access in the future for dryer replacement or servicing.

I also installed a DryerJack on the roof, a first-class product from InOvate specifically designed for durability, which greatly reduces the overall back pressure in the exhaust system. I framed in a couple of 2x6 studs, added a few Simpson straps for rigidity, and a nail plate over the vent cut out for safety.

Finally, I added a roof penetration to install the DryerJack and ensured that the installation of the DryerJack was sealed correctly to prevent leaks.

Overall this project took about 5 hours but will last for many many years to come.
